Organisation and history
Hostage UK is an independent charity that champions the needs of hostages and their families. We were founded by a group of former hostages and their family members who wanted to provide for others the kind of help and support they had needed themselves. We also have a team of professionals who give their time on a pro bono basis to ensure hostages and their families get the best pastoral and practical help, regardless of their personal or financial circumstances.
Hostage UK has three core aims:
  • To provide specialist services and pastoral support to hostages and their families, both during and after the case;
  • To provide specialist education and independent advice to organisations with employees facing a kidnap risk, focusing on the human elements of kidnapping;
  • To campaign and advocate for improved government and organisational policy and practice around kidnapping incidents.
All our funding is transparent; for full details go to Support Us.
